. “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4.
What is that one thing you love the most?
Could it be people, or power, maybe it is prestige.
What has your attention, and what is it that keeps you following the path of righteousness?
Some things in our walk of faith will delay us, distract us, and even detain us, but they can never stop us from our final destination.
The salvation of the dying criminal on the cross is proof that where there is life, there is hope.
This criminal looked, focused on the dying Man next to him and said, "Lord remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. ⚔️"And Jesus said unto him, "Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43.
🙏 We should be amazed at the focus & faith of this man, who with deep insight, looked past the shame of the moment and saw the coming glory.
His focus, his "one thing", was on Christ, not on death.
⚔️“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this "one thing" I do,forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before.” Philippians 3:13.
⚔️ This criminal was “pressing for the mark."
This is not a free pass to wait, but to forget those things which are behind, and reach forth unto those things which are before.
We have not arrived. No not one, no one is perfect, we are all flawed, so, we press for that "one thing".
We want to lay hold, make it our own possession. David had "one thing", the criminal on the cross had "one thing", and Paul had "one thing", and it should be our "one thing", and that is to dwell with our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
